Did you grow up eating these? I remember the first time my mom made them for me, I was about 6 or 7 years old and we were doing a science experiment by building an oven out of a pizza box. Naturally, we had to make pizza in our makeshift "pizza oven" and my mom whipped out these easy English muffin pizzas and I was hooked.
Since that memory is so engrained in my brain, I obviously had to recreate them. While I kept the basic recipe the same, I did choose to make mine in the air fryer instead of a solar powered pizza box! lol
This easy air fryer recipe is seriously the best! Similar to my air fryer peanut butter and jelly, it only requires 3 main ingredients, toppings of choice, and less than 10 minutes to cook. It makes a fantastic, easy dinner idea to serve to kids, or maybe it's just been a long day and you don't feel like cooking. Either way, everyone will love these saucy, cheesy, little bites of goodness!

INGREDIENTS FOR AIR FRYER ENGLISH MUFFIN PIZZAS

- English muffins: I use Bay's, but you can use just about any English muffin. Thomas English muffins are also really good!
- Pizza sauce: Use your favorite Rao's is a really good quality, but just use your favorite pizza sauce
- Mozzarella cheese: I recommend shredding your own because it always tastes and melts better, but you can use pre-shredded for convenience
HOW TO MAKE ENGLISH MUFFIN PIZZAS IN THE AIR FRYER
- Cut English muffins in half and place the halves into your air fryer basket. Cook at 350 degrees F for 3 minutes just to get a light toast on them
- Take the English muffin halves out of the air fryer and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spoon one and one half tablespoons of pizza sauce onto each half and use the back of the spoon to spread it around.
- Add any toppings, then sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top of each muffin half
- Place your mini pizzas back into the air fryer basket and cook at 350 degrees F for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted
- Use a flat spatula to take them out of the air fryer and enjoy!

TOPPING SUGGESTIONS
Extra toppings are a fun way to add extra flavor, personalize your dinner, and take your air fryer English muffin pizzas to the next level. Just be sure to put them under the cheese so they don't fly off in the air fryer!
Topping suggestions:
- Mini pepperoni
- Olives
- Green peppers
- Banana peppers
- Bacon bits
- Crumbled sausage
- Pesto
- Extra cheese
- Italian seasoning (just a pinch)
Pizza ideas:
- Supreme: Mini pepperoni, sausage, olives, onion, and bell pepper
- Hawaiian: Top with chopped pineapple and diced ham
- Margherita: Add tomato slices, fresh basil leaves, and shredded mozzarella. Once cooked, finish with a drizzle of olive oil
- Breakfast pizza: Use salsa instead of pizza sauce, top with scrambled eggs, bacon bits, and cheddar cheese
- Buffalo chicken: Use ranch in place of the pizza sauce, top with shredded buffalo chicken and cheddar cheese
- Four cheese: Mozzarella, parmesan, cheddar, and goat cheese (or use 4 of your favorites)

INGREDIENT SUBSTUTIONS
English muffins: Whole wheat, low carb, whole grain, sourdough, any plain flavored one will work

Mozzarella cheese: Cheddar, pepper jack, gruyere, basically any cheese that melts well
STORING AND REHEATING ENGLISH MUFFIN PIZZAS
You can keep any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. The sauce will soak into the muffin and make it slightly soggy, so just pop it back into the air fryer to heat up and you've got an easy snack, or delicious leftover dinner.
EXPERT TIPS
- If you like a softer "crust" then don't toast them first before sauce
- If not toasting, preheat your air fryer
- Make these gluten free by using gluten free English muffins
- Add toppings under the cheese so they don't fly off
- Don't add raw toppings unless you want them crunchy, these don't cook long enough to soften them
- If the cheese is too greasy once melted, just blot with a paper towel
- Leftovers make a great snack!

FAQs
Don't skip the initial toast! That first toasting of a plain muffin will create a small barrier that won't let the sauce soak completely into the muffin.
If you're not toasting the English muffins first, then yes you should preheat it. If you are toasting, then there's no need to.
This will depend on the size of your air fryer! I can comfortably fit four halves (2 whole muffins) in my Cosori 5.8, but other air fryers are smaller and may only fit 2 halves, or you may have an XL one that can fit 6-8 halves.
I listed a bunch of great options higher up in the post, but pretty much any pizza toppings you like you can add on here!
Yes, just use gluten free English muffins like Trader Joe's or Katz.
You can freeze these! What you'll want to do is build them as if you were going to eat them immediately, but do not melt the cheese.
Once the cold cheese is added on top of the sauce, wrap each individual half in plastic wrap and place into a freezer safe bag. Lay the bag flat in your freezer and they'll be good up to two months.
When you're ready to eat, pull one out of the freezer and place in a preheated air fryer and cook at 350 degrees F for 7-8 minutes. (this is a great way to meal prep!)
You can totally make these in an oven or toaster oven! Build as directed, then place in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F and cook for a couple of minutes until the cheese is melty.
