Frozen sweet potato fries in the air fryer will be your new favorite side dish. You'll end up with delicious, crispy sweet potato fries that the whole family is sure to enjoy, and no one has to know how easy they are to make!

If I'm being honest, I much prefer sweet potato fries over regular ones- I just think that they taste better! I've made them from scratch and they're so good; crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and seasoned to perfection. However, homemade fries are quite a bit of work that we don't all have time for. But now, everyone can have incredibly delicious, crispy, healthy fries by using frozen, store-bought ones and cooking them in the air fryer!

These air fryer sweet potato fries are crispy, easy, and downright incredible. You simply open the prepacked fries, air fry for 10 minutes, and then you have the most delicious side dish. It's a healthy, easy way to eat your veggies, get nutrients, and prepare something that the whole family will love. Pair yours with homemade turkey burgers, BBQ chicken wings, and cucumber salad, (finished off with a milkshake of course) for a balanced, healthy meal, and my entire family loved them!

WHY YOU SHOULD MAKE FROZEN SWEET POTATO FRIES IN THE AIR FRYER

  • Perfect side dish or easy snack
  • Requires a lot less oil than deep frying
  • Takes less time than making in the oven
  • You get extra crispy fries with less excess oil
  • They can be cooked right from frozen, making them a great quick, healthy option

INGREDIENTS NEEDED

  • Frozen Sweet Potato Fries: I really like Alexia brand, but any that your grocery store carries will work
  • Olive oil spray and seasoning: These are totally optional! Plain fries are delicious, but sometimes spicing things up is fun

HOW TO AIR FRY FROZEN SWEET POTATO FRIES

  1. Pull your sweet potato fries out of the freezer and pour them in a single layer into your air fryer basket (you may have to do 2 batches)
  2. Put the basket into your air fryer and cook at 380 degrees F for 10-12 minutes, shaking halfway through
  3. Take the first batch of fries out of the basket and repeat with the remaining sweet potato fries if needed
  4. Once they're all cooked, serve with your favorite sauce and enjoy

FAQ's

How long do you put them in the air fryer?

These frozen fries cook for 10-12 minutes in the air fryer.

Will this work with waffle fries or regular fries?

Yes, this method will work with most frozen fries, you just mat have to adjust the cook time a little.

Should I thaw frozen fries before putting them in the air fryer?

No, you want to put them in frozen for best results.

What brand is the best?

I like the Alexia sweet potato fries, but I've heard good things about both Trader Joes brand as well as Ore-Ida.

WHY AREN'T MY AIR FRYER FROZEN FRIES CRISPY?

If your fries aren't crispy, there might have been too many in the basket which wouldn't allow the hot air to circulate. You only want a single layer in the bottom of the air fryer basket so the hot air can circulate around them so you get delicious fries that are crispy on all sides.

If you want to get really crispy fries, spritz them lightly with cooking spray before air frying and add an extra minute or two to the cooking time. Just watch how much time you add because you don't want them to burn.

EXPERT TIPS

  • Use them right out of the freezer, don't defrost
  • Make sure they're in a single layer to maximum crispiness
  • Cook in two batches if needed
  • Season with your favorite blend, just don't add salt

BEST DIPPING SAUCES FOR FROZEN SWEET POTATO FRIES

You can serve these with your favorite dipping sauce, but here's a few more suggestions:

  • Avocado ranch
  • Buffalo sauce
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Honey mustard
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Ranch dip

SEASONING IDEAS

Adding extra seasoning is a great way to get even more flavor on your delicious, crispy sweet potato fries. All you have to do is lightly spray your fries with olive oil cooking spray before air frying, sprinkle on a little bit of seasoning, then cook till crispy! (You do not want to use salt because most frozen fries are already salted) Here's a few seasoning ideas:

  • Chili lime
  • Garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cumin mixed together
  • Cajun seasoning
  • Mediterranean blend
  • Everything bagel seasoning
  • Italian seasoning

STORING LEFTOVERS AND REHEATING

You can store any leftover sweet potato fries in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.

The best way to reheat them is in the air fryer. Take the container out of the fridge, place the fries in a single layer in the basket, spray lightly with cooking spray, and cook at 380 degrees F for 4-5 minutes, or until crispy again. Just watch that they don't get too dark since they're already been cooked once.
