Why Is Honey Ginger Tea Good For You?
This homemade ginger tea with honey is a favorite for days I want something warm and cozy, but not rich like hot chocolate.
It's a super simple recipe that only need 4 ingredients and takes less than 10 minutes to make. Simmer all the ingredients, strain out the ginger, pour into your mug and enjoy.
Honey ginger tea is not only tasty, but it's also good for you! It's full of antioxidants and nutrients, and can even help soothe a sore throat. The ginger is a great anti-inflammatory as well, and may be helpful to alleviate nausea.

Ingredients To Make Homemade Honey Ginger Tea
*full ingredients list and measurements can be found in the recipe card below*

- Honey: Local honey is always the best to use! If you can't find local honey, try and find an organic brand if you can.
- Ginger: To reap the most health benefits, you'll need to use fresh ginger. Just peel the skin off before adding it into your tea.
- Water: I usually don't list water as an ingredient, but in tea it's pretty important. Any water will work 😉
- Orange: I do like to add a little bit of fresh orange juice to my tea, but it's optional. You don't need to add it if you'd rather not.
How To Make Honey Ginger Tea
1. Peel your ginger and thinly slice with a sharp knife

2. Pour the water into a small saucepan and add honey, prepared ginger, and orange juice
3. Heat the saucepan over medium/low heat for 5-6 minutes, or until warmed through

4. Strain out the ginger pieces, then pour your honey ginger tea into a mug and enjoy!

Substitutions and Variations
- Substitute the honey with maple syrup for a different type of sweetness
- If you don't have orange, lemon is also great with ginger
- Steep a green tea bag in the water while it's boiling
- Once steeped, cool the honey ginger tea off and make it iced
Best Way To Store and Reheat Your Tea
Storing: Keep any leftover in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Reheating: I prefer to reheat my tea on the stove, because the microwave can remove some of the nutritional benefits. Just pour your desired amount into a small pot and heat over low heat until warmed through.
You can also serve this as iced tea, it's just as delicious!

Expert Tips
- Use a spoon: Peeling ginger with a spoon is the easiest way I've found to do it. Plus, it's safer than using a veggie peeler.
- Strain your tea: Big slices of ginger aren't appetizing to drink, so be sure to pull them out before serving.
- Honey to taste: I personally like the flavor that just 2 tablespoons of honey adds. If you want it sweeter, add a little more.
