Out of all the air fryer chicken recipes on my site, this has got to be one of the best. This boneless chicken thigh recipe is so quick to prepare, has so much incredible flavor from the dry rub, and only takes 12 minutes to cook. It's an easy, healthy dinner option for when you're short on time, but it also makes meal prepping lunches a breeze.

Whether you're just tired of eating chicken breasts, looking for a new dinner to try, or need something nutritious and quick, this is the recipe to try. I personally love using the chicken in salads or wraps, but you enjoy these any way you like. Pair with some roasted veggies and potatoes for a balanced dinner or shred and use in tacos, the possibilities are endless to create an epic dinner the whole family will love.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS RECIPE

  • Less than a 15 minute cooking time
  • A great source of protein, as well as being low carb
  • Super juicy
  • Mouthwatering seasoning
  • Easy way to meal prep lunch

INGREDIENTS FOR AIR FRYER BONELESS CHICKEN THIGHS

ingredients to make boneless chicken thighs in the air fryer labeled with black text.
  • Chicken thighs: This recipe is made with boneless, skinless chicken thighs. They also cook faster than bone-in.
  • Spices: I use the same seasoning as my air fryer drumsticks because it's so good! Just salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, cumin, and cayenne pepper

  3. Once seasoned, place chicken thighs in a single layer in the air fryer basket
  4. Set the temperature of the air fryer to 380 degrees f and the cook time to 6 minutes
  5. After those 6 minutes are up, use tongs to carefully flip the thighs over and cook for another 6-7 minutes at 380 f
  6. Once cooked, use tongs to carefully remove them from the basket and allow to rest on a plate for 5 minutes. Serve and enjoy!

SHOULD I USE BONELESS OR BONE-IN?

This recipe is specifically designed for chicken thighs without the bone. They're quicker to cook and easier to eat, but bone-in thighs are definitely able to be made in the air fryer. You would season the bone-in chicken as directed, but cook for 10 minutes a side instead of 6 minutes.

SIDE DISHES TO SERVE

While these air fryer boneless chicken thighs are great on their own, what's a delicious main dish without sides? Here's a few of my favorite sides to serve with them:

  • Air fryer sweet potatoes and brussels sprouts
  • Cucumber salad
  • Roasted broccoli (with tahini sauce is to die for!)
  • Carrot fries
  • 5 minute green beans
  • Crispy baby potatoes
  • Crispy cauliflower bites
  • Cajun potato salad
  • Burrata caprese salad

STORING AND REHEATING

The best way to store any leftovers is in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

For best results, reheat in the air fryer at 350 degrees f for 5-6 minutes. Thighs are hard to overcook and should still be juicy. However, one of my favorite ways to use up leftover chicken is to make cold chicken salad, quesadillas, or shred them up and toss in BBQ sauce or buffalo sauce for an easy way to make tacos.

MORE SEASONING IDEAS

Try one of these flavorful seasoning blends for exciting ways to enjoy this easy recipe:

  • Italian seasoning
  • Chili lime seasoning
  • Cajun seasoning
  • Ranch seasoning
  • Lemon pepper
  • Taco mix
  • Glaze with teriyaki sauce after they're cooked

EXPERT TIPS FOR THE JUICIEST BONELESS CHICKEN THIGHS

  • Read the entire recipe first
  • Make sure to coat the entire thigh in seasoning
  • Flip halfway through the cooking process to ensure even cooking
  • The internal temperature of the chicken needs to be 165 degrees f (use a meat thermometer to check if you're unsure)
  • Let thighs rest after cooking so the juices get reabsorbed into the meat
  • These taste really good with my avocado ranch dressing!

FAQs

  1. How long do chicken thighs take in the air fryer? Boneless ones take 12-15 minutes depending on their size, while bone in take closer to 20 minutes.
  2. What temperature do you cook them in the air fryer? I cook mine at 380 degrees f, but other recipes I've seen cook them at 400 degrees f.
  3. What should the internal temp be? The internal temperature should read 165 degrees f, but what's really great about thighs is that they're extremely hard to overcook. The dark meat will stay juicier much easier than a leaner cut, such as chicken breasts.
