Avocado Lime Ranch: Chick-fil A Copycat

Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe

This avocado lime ranch is a quick and homemade copy cat version of the classic Chick-fil A recipe. Just a few simple ingredients are needed to make this super flavorful, versatile dressing. Drizzle it over a Spicy Southwest salad paired with a glass of lemonade for a truly authentic Chick Fil A experience.

I absolutely LOVE this dressing. It's got amazing flavors, full of healthy fats, higher in protein, and honestly just tastes incredible. If you love classic ranch dressing, I promise that this recipe is 10x better!

This creamy dressing only needs 5 ingredients, can be made in under 5 minutes, and is great to keep in the fridge. You can drizzle it over salads or tacos, use it as a burger spread, or even just as a dip for fresh veggies. The uses for this homemade avocado ranch are endless!

Why This Recipe Works

  • Only 5 ingredients needed
  • Full of healthy fats
  • Super creamy consistency
  • Tastes better than Chick-fil A's (IMO)
  • Made with Greek yogurt, so it's lighter and higher in protein

Ingredients for Avocado Lime Ranch

ingredients for avocado lime ranch dressing on a white backdrop labeled with black text.
  • Avocado: I find Haas to be the best avocados, but any will work as long as thy're ripe
  • Greek yogurt: I used yogurt as the base of this dressing in place of sour cream to add more protein and lighten it up a bit
  • Lime juice: Fresh lime juice adds a necessary acidity to cut the richness of this creamy dressing
  • Ranch seasoning: You can use homemade ranch seasoning or even a ranch seasonings packet
  • Mayonnaise: The mayo helps aid in getting that perfect creamy consistency

How To Make Avocado Lime Ranch

  1. Carefully cut your avocados in half, take out the pit and use a spoon to scoop out the inside
  2. Place all ingredients: cut avocado, Greek yogurt, lime juice, ranch seasonings, mayonnaise, and water into your blender.
  3. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy, adding more water if needed
  4. Use right away or store in a mason jar in the fridge until you need it

How To Make Homemade Ranch Seasoning

You only need a couple of ingredients to make a homemade ranch seasoning mix. It's simple, quick, and lasts for a long time so you can use it again and again.

  • Dried parsley
  • Dried dill
  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion flakes
  • Pepper
  • Salt
  • Dried chives

This is the recipe I used so I got the right ratio of each ingredient. I like that it uses dried herbs instead of fresh herbs so I can use it on all sorts of recipes, like roasted veggies or chicken.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Chick-fil A lime ranch dressing healthy?

The Chick Fil A lime ranch dressing is a healthier choice than some of the other dressing options, but it is still full of excess oils and presevatives.

By making it at home you can create a healthier, lighter, and tastier version for a fraction of the cost.

Can you buy Chick-fil A salad dressing?

No, that is not one of the sauces they sell.

How many calories is in avocado lime ranch?

I don't believe calories are the best form of nutrition measurement, but a packet of Chick-fil A's creamy avocado dressing has 310 calories while my homemade one has just about 30 per 2 tablespoons!

What's the best way to store this homemade dressing?

You can store it in an airtight container, I use a mason jar, and keep it in the fridge for up to two weeks.

Serving Suggestions

This dressing is so great on many recipes! Here's a few of my favorite ways to utilize it:

  • Chick-fil A Southwest Salad
  • As a sandwich spread
  • On top of air fryer chicken thighs
  • To dip fresh veggies in (my personal favorite way!)
  • On the side of crispy cauliflower bites
  • Drizzled over a regular green salad

Expert Tips

  • Make sure you use ripe avocados
  • Use plain Greek yogurt, regular yogurt is too thin
  • Both homemade ranch mix as well as store-bought will work
  • You can use lemon juice in place of the lime
  • Only add as much water as needed, you want it thick and creamy but pourable
  • Store leftovers in a mason jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks
