Granola Butter is an easy, homemade spread made from oats, avocado and coconut oil, and maple syrup. It's vegan, gluten free, and takes 5 minutes to make. Skip the expensive store-bought jars and make it yourself for a fraction of the cost!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup hemp seeds
  • 1/4 cup avocado oil
  • 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice

Instructions

  1. Add old fashioned oats and hemp seeds to the cup of a high speed blender. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes, or until they reach a very fine, powdery consistency
  2. Pour the avocado oil, melted coconut oil, cinnamon, salt, and allspice into the blended oats and blend again for 15-20 seconds
  3. Pour the spread into a jar, stir in the maple syrup until just combined, then put the lid on the jar and store until needed

Notes

  • Make it with certified gluten free oats. I like using Bob's Red Mill
  • If you don't have avocado oil you can substitute with another neutral flavored oil
  • When adding in the maple syrup, don't over mix or it could end up gummy
  • The oat spread will harden once cooled, but you can microwave for 10-20 seconds if you want to drizzle it
  • Homemade granola butter is best kept in an airtight container in a cool, dark place for 3 weeks or in the fridge for 2 months
