AIR FRYER MAHI MAHI

If I could only eat one type of protein, I would pick fish. I. Love. Fish. I especially love mahi mahi, it's not a super fishy tasting fish, but it has a sweet, mild flavor that I just find so yummy. I got it out to eat one time, and they served it grilled with a side of fresh mango salsa, and I KNEW I had to recreate it at home. Which is why I'm so happy to share my air fryer version with you! It's super easy, takes only 10 minutes to cook, and only needs 2 ingredients. This is a great weeknight dinner option, or you can jazz it up with a mango salsa (like my restaurant meal!) and have an easy date night dinner!

Air frying is such a great way to cook. It's easy, beginner friendly, cooks food quickly, and is also a very healthy since it uses hot air and not much oil. Since it is so easy, I like to test various things out, and I was STOKED to find out that you can cook outstanding mahi mahi in just 10 minutes. This easy air fryer recipe is so tasty, flavorful, you get delicious flakey fish in no time, plus, it's so healthy! This is a one of a kind recipe that I really truly love, will be making on repeat, and hope you love it as much as I do.

EXPERT TIPS

  • Pat the fish dry, and then spray with olive oil spray so the seasoning will stick
  • If air frying more than 2 pieces of mahi mahi, make sure they're laid in a single layer in the basket. Don't overlap them!
  • A squeeze of lemon or lime juice will go a long way to brighten up the flavor of this mild fish
  • Cook the mahi to an internal temperature of 137 degrees f, use a meat thermometer for best results
  • Check the thickness of the fillet, thin ones will probably be cooked after 6-7 minutes

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. Can you put frozen fish in the air fryer? Yes, you can! I haven't tested it, so I can't be 100% sure on the cooking time, but try cooking it for 7 minutes a side at 400 f and then check the temperature.
  2. What are good side dishes for fish? Whenever I eat fish, I like to keep the sides not super heavy. You could serve roasted carrots, cucumber salad, pasta salad, a garden salad, sweet potato fries- these are all great side options!
  3. Can you overcook mahi? It can be overcooked, and if that happens these delicious fish fillets turn very dry.
  4. How do I store leftovers? Keep any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
  5. What is the best way to reheat cooked fish? The best way is to wrap it in aluminum foil and heat it low and slow in the oven. I'm talking like 275 degrees f for 15-20 minutes, that way you reduce the risk of really overcooking it.
