This easy air fryer turkey burger recipe will quickly become your new favorite dinner. Call me crazy, but I think I'd choose turkey over beef burgers any day. I just like the taste better, and I also don't eat a lot of red meat so it's nice to have another option. That being said, I don't always feel like making homemade turkey burgers every time a craving strikes, which is why air frying frozen patties is such a convenient way to get exactly what I want, but with very little effort.
It's the best of both worlds, using the air fryer to cook frozen turkey burger patties is a great idea to get a healthy meal on the table in the easiest way possible, and I still get that burger craving satisfied. It only takes 10 minutes for you to have juicy burgers piled high with all your favorite toppings. Serve alongside some homemade french fries, carrot fries, potato salad, and a big 'ol glass of lemonade for a delicious balanced meal the whole family will enjoy.

WHAT YOU NEED FOR AIR FRYER TURKEY BURGERS

- Frozen Turkey Burgers: I really like to use Applegate Farms Organic Turkey Burgers because fresh ground turkey is literally the only ingredient.
- Seasoning: the burgers can be a little bit bland without any seasoning, I recommend at least salt and black pepper, but I have a whole bunch of ideas further in the post
- Toppings: burger buns, lettuce, tomato, onion, whatever you like!
HOW TO COOK FROZEN TURKEY BURGERS IN THE AIR FRYER

- Separate frozen turkey burger patties onto a plate and season with salt and pepper (or seasoning of choice)
- Place them in a single layer into your air fryer basket and cook at 380 degrees f for 8 minutes
- Pull the basket out, lay a slice of cheese on each burger, and cook at 380 f for another 2-3 minutes
- Let them rest for 2 minutes, then use a spatula to take them out of the air fryer basket, place each one onto the bottom half of your bun, build the rest of your burger, and enjoy!
RECIPE VARIATIONS AND TOPPING IDEAS
The best thing about plain turkey burgers is that there’s so much room for variety! You can make a classic cheeseburger like I’ve listed above, or you can spice it up! Add your favorite seasonings before you air fry, then pile your favorite toppings and sauces onto a golden, buttery roll and enjoy. Here’s a few ideas for you to try out:
TACO BURGER:
Season the frozen turkey patties with taco seasoning, cook, then build your burger with cheddar cheese, taco sauce, lettuce and tomato
SPICY HAWAIIAN BURGER:
Use chili lime seasoning on the burgers before you air fry them, and finish off with a Hawaiian bun spread with teriyaki sauce, cheddar cheese, and mango habanero salsa
CAPRESE BURGER:
Sprinkle salt, pepper, and garlic powder evenly over each patty, then on a brioche bun layer the cooked burger, mozzarella cheese, and thick slice of tomato and chopped basil
PIZZA BURGER:
Season the frozen patties with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese, build your burger with a layer of pizza sauce on the bun, the seasoned meat, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni
COWBOY BURGER:
Season burger patty with salt and pepper, melt swiss cheese over top, then on a brioche bun add mayo, the burger, caramelized onions and mushrooms and bacon.

BEST TURKEY BURGER TIPS
- Be sure to season before you air fry, or else the burgers won't have much flavor
- You want to cook until the center of burger registers 165 degrees f. Use a meat thermometer to check if you're nervous
- Line the bottom of the basket with aluminum foil for easy clean up. Just be sure to poke holes in it so the hot air can circulate
- Stick to the 10 minute cook time at first, if not cooked enough air fry for 1 minute at a time until done. Overcooked turkey burgers are NOT that delicious lol
- Speaking of time, it may vary for different air fryers depending on the make and model. I have only tested it in a Cosori, but I'm positive you can achieve juicy turkey burgers in a Ninja Foodi, Instant Vortex, or any brand. Just be sure to watch the time.
- Don't skip out on adding your favorite burger toppings, this is a great time to have fun and be creative!
- A lettuce wrap is a great way to keep these low carb
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do not store these as built burgers, the buns will get super soggy. Instead, store the cooked patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Absolutely! This is an easy way to meal prep lunch or dinner for a few days. I recommend only cooking the burger patties for 5 minutes so they're not fully cooked and finish the cooking process when you heat them up. (air fry at 380 f for 5-6 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165 f)
Nope! That's what's so great about this recipe; because they're frozen you can cook just as many as you need and keep the rest in the freezer until you need them again.
