5 INGREDIENTS FOR EASY CHILI

- Ground turkey: I love using lean ground turkey in my chilis and soups because it adds a good amount of protein while not adding a lot of fat
- Diced onion: The best onion to use for soups and chilis is a yellow onion because it always cooks down and softens quickly
- Diced tomatoes with green chilis: The diced tomatoes WITH green chilis are a key ingredient here because they add more flavor from just one ingredient
- Pinto beans: My family prefers pinto beans in their chili, so that's what I use. However, any kind of canned bean-black beans, kidney beans, cannellini beans- will work
- Taco seasoning: I use a gluten free brand like Siete in my easy chili, but you can use a homemade taco seasoning as well
HOW TO MAKE 5 INGREDIENT CHILI
- In a large pot on the stove, brown the ground turkey over medium/low heat, being sure to break it up with a wooden spoon.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the cooked meat, but leave the grease in the pot
- Turn the heat up to medium and add the diced onion into the pot. Stir it around frequently until cooked and softened- about 5-7 minutes.
- Next, add the cooked ground turkey back into the pot, along with 2 15 ounce cans of the diced tomatoes with green chilis, 1 15 ounce can of pinto beans (drained and rinsed), taco seasoning, ½ cup of water, and salt & pepper to taste
- Use your wooden spoon to stir everything together and bring the chili to a boil over medium/low heat
- Boil for 10-15 minutes until the water has reduced and chili is thick, then serve and enjoy!

EASY CHILI VARIATIONS
- Substitute the ground turkey- Make it with ground beef or ground pork instead
- Change out the beans- Use black beans, kidney beans or cannellini beans
- Add in a 4 ounce can of chopped green chilis if your diced tomatoes don't have them

- Boil this easy chili until it reaches your desired consistency

- Chili always tastes better the next day, so make it ahead of time

FAQs
Yes, just brown the ground turkey first then add all ingredients into your slow cooker and cook on low for 3-4 hours. Do not add in the extra water or else your chili will be too liquidy.
I have not tried it and therefore cannot say yes or no. I believe it would work, so if you try let me know in the comments below!
To thick it you simply have to let it continue to boil. When it's boiling the water will evaporate out of the pot and you'll eventually end up with a thick, hearty chili.
If you need more liquid I suggest adding chicken or vegetable stock. Both of them will add a deeper flavor than just water.
